And the things that you have heard me (Apostle Paul) say .. entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2
Pastoral training is one of the most valuable things that we can do to help the African church. Many pastors in Pentecostal denominations in Africa have little training and limited knowledge of the Bible. My husband and I were called by God to teach the Bible in Africa in 1982 and that is what we did at Nairobi Pentecostal Bible College for a total of 15 years.
We have been taking pastoral training seminars in Burundi since 2000. These seminars have contributed to the impressive growth of the FECABu churches since their founding in 1974 so that there are now more than 600 churches. We are increasingly able to hand that ministry onto the people we have been part of training.
Hi from Pierre who was trained at Nairobi Pentecostal Bible College in Nairobi, Kenya who is developing the FECABu Bible Training programme.
He is keen to add a course in Entrepreneurship to help pastors set up small businesses to supplement their incomes from farming. Creative Solutions is currently paying him a small salary.
Many of the pastors only have Primary education. They are eager to study and learn how to interpret the Bible and how to preach and pastor their flocks. Creative Solutions has just sent money to buy each pastor a new Kirundi Bible. The old translation had become dated and rather difficult to understand. The new one will very much facilitate undertstanding.
