On July 16, 2018, the women of Turiwacu Kinama were able to harvest this season's rice. They were able to harvest 9.5 bags of whole, uncleaned rice before drying. Not a good result this season.
They harvested 9.5 bags of whole rice before drying.
After drying, they obtained 778Kg of non-husked rice.
It was divided like this:
● 291Kg: To reimburse cost of water and seeds to IRDI
● 487Kg: Remaining to grind.
The husked rice totalled 306Kg, shared thus:
● 63Kg to share among the members
● 243Kg sold to pay the expenses.
The selling price is 1300FBu / Kg
→ 243Kg × 1300 = 315900Fbu
After deducting all expenses:
315900 - 232350 = 83550FBu profit (£1 = 2000 FBu).
The 63Kg of husked rice was shared by the members; each received 4.5Kg of rice
to feed their family, plus 6420FBU in cash.
In general, the harvest was not good for this season - mainly because of the
poor quality of seed and the small amount of water given by IRDI. (integrated Rural Development Initiative).
